The Charity Breast Cancer Now has some information on stopping tamoxifen which you can read here. It says that you do not need to stop it gradually.

Some people hardly experience any side effects coming off tamoxifen while others may experience more. It's hard to predict how you will be. It's often seeing how things go and taking it one step at a time.

Breast Cancer Now also have a forum where woman post different experiences. I see there is a thread dedicated to women coming off tamoxifen which you might find helpful to read at this link.
