Coming off Tamoxifen after 10 years

I am about to come off Tamoxifen after 12 years.  After reading other comments, My question is would it be beneficial to come off slowly, wean off, reduce slowly to prevent the sudden onset of what sounds like an awful post tamoxifen life! Advice would be much appreciated, thank you

  • Hello and thanks for your post

The Charity Breast Cancer Now has some information on stopping tamoxifen which you can read here. It says that you do not need to stop it gradually.

Some people hardly experience any side effects coming off tamoxifen while others may experience more. It's hard to predict how you will be. It's often seeing how things go and taking it one step at a time.

Breast Cancer Now also have a forum where woman post different experiences. I see there is a thread dedicated to women coming off tamoxifen which you might find helpful to read at this link.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
