Diagnosis help

Hi there, was really hoping for some help

I've found a lump on the side of my neck very randomly as I've not been unwell, I went to my doctors and kind of got mucked around, I got my bloods taken they told me I've got glandular fever, although signs don't really point towards it, the only symptoms I have for this are I'm really tired & fatigued and have a lump on the side of my neck (2.5 inch by 3 inches). Other symptoms I have that are not associated to glandular fever are. Nosebleeds and breathlessness and growing painless lump on my neck, along side this I live by myself and have a girlfriend of along time so I really dont think its glandular fever, I really want to get some information on what to do.

reply's are more then welcome all the help the better

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the lump and symptoms you are having and appreciate this is concerning you.

Unfortunately no one here can diagnose you or say what the matter may be which is pretty much the same thing. Symptoms can be the result of many different things and it is only a doctor who can assess and then arrange the most appropriate tests to find out more.

I'm sorry you don't feel your GP has got the diagnosis right and I think it would be a good idea for you to ask to see a different doctor at the practice to see what they have to say.

Blood tests are able to confirm glandular fever so it would be unusual for this not to be correct especially as a swollen lymph node alongside tiredness and fatigue are well known symptoms for this.

I'm afraid we can't tell you anymore so do speak to another doctor at your surgery when you are able about your concerns. If indicated they can arrange further tests for you.

I hope you start feeling better soon

    All the best

    Naomi
