Swelling above left breast

Hi!

I noticed the area between my collarbone and left breast has been swollen for a few months now and I just can't find anything online about swelling in this area at all!

I'm making a doctor's appointment however just wondering if anyone else had seen something similar before!

The swelling isn't hard and disappears when I lift my arm up but I do have a dull ache now and then under my armpit, down my arm and down my left side. I'm very thin so it's a bit noticeable and currently on b12 and folic acid after going to the doctor for sudden weightloss and lack of energy and finding out I was apparently deficient in these.

I have a 2 year old that when I carry is always carried on that side so wondering if potentially it's just a muscle or something.

Obviously not looking for a diagnosis just if anyone had anything similar?

Thanks in advance if anyone sees this

  • Hi Justwondering, my child insisted on being carried until about age 5 and it caused me numerous aches and pains in that area - I think there are a lot of muscles there maybe? Great that you are getting it checked out to put your mind at rest and hope the appointment goes well xx

  • Hello Just wondering and thanks for posting,

I can understand you asking - a lot of people post here on Cancer Chat to find out if anyone has had a similar symptom to one they are experiencing. I think it is only human to want to sound this sort of thing out. But the best way to find out what is causing any new and persistent symptom is to get your GP to make an assessment, so I am glad to know you have this in hand. Almost always there are several possibilities with cancer often being the least likely explaination, but it makes sense to get properly checked out.

I hope you can easily make a GP appointment and nothing serious is the matter.

    Wishing you the best,

    Julia

  • Thank you! Ive been referred to the breast clinic within two weeks so just waiting for my appointment ️

I do think it's potentially muscle related but the doctor wanted me to get checked to be safe as she couldn't say
