Endometrial carcinoma

Hi , I had a radical hysterectomy in September 2020.  From the start of me noticing spotting and contacting my GP I had a hysteroscopy and laporscopic hysterectomy all in the space of 6 weeks. After my operation the surgeon informed me that I had no cancer.  At the time I wondered why is he saying that is that what he tells all his patients. I recovered after my op and just got on with life. A few month down the line I spoke again to a doctor in my practice ( still no face to face contact due to COVID) he asked me if I had received chemotherapy! I told him no and I never questioned why he asked me. Now it's January 2023 and I have access to my medical notes so I'm looking for any information and find that I did have endometrial cancer. I'm totally dumbfounded as to why I wasn't informed.  Was it a good thing not informing me as I am a born worrier or should he have been obligated to tell me. What are your opinions ?

  • Hi,

What I can gather with so much different information is that they do give chemotherapy just to be cautious,

It looks like it's a plan of action they tend to do,

If in doubt contact your gp and ask the questions you need answering,

    Hope all goes well x

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to hear about this. To be honest I think it is very difficult for anyone here to be able to comment about your situation and what has happened but clearly you have some valid questions that need answering.

As someone else has said to you on the forum it is a good idea to speak with your GP to find out if they have further information that you weren't aware of and to talk this through with you.

Failing this they may be able to get in tough with the consultant you were under or suggest that you contact the hospital where you were treated. The hospital involved should also be able to look into this for you to gain a greater understanding of what has happened and if any follow up is needed.

I hope you have a better understanding soon but do get back in touch if needed.

All the very best to you

    Naomi
