Lump at side of head

Hey everyone

So Iv been getting bad headaches for a while now, they wake me up sometimes they're that intense. I'm tired constantly and can't function unless I have a nap in the day nowadays.

I came across a lump on the side of my head just under my temple last week, its rock hard, can't move it, and painless. I'm also feeling really sick and dizzy but only at night time.

Last night I was lying in bed and it felt like someone was blowing cold air directly onto my head, like there was a draught but there wasn't.

I'm going to call the doctors on Tuesday and get it checked out but I'm after someone whose had something like this?

Thank you xx

  • Welcome to the forum Bg93 although I'm sorry for the pain and worry this lump is causing.

Our nurses are out of the office over the Easter holidays but they will get back to you as soon as they can once they return on Tuesday 11th April.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your different symptoms and I hope that you have managed to make an appointment with your doctor.

We can't diagnose anyone on the forum and we would always encourage someone to seek medical advice when symptoms don't appear to be going away. The lump and the headaches may not be related at all so try if you can not to overthink it for now.

Headaches and nausea and dizziness can be brought on by different reasons including stress, lack of sleep or not drinking enough fluid but it is only really your own doctor who can examine you and perhaps organise some tests that may be able to get to the bottom of the cause.

This is what the NHS has to say about headaches here

We also can't diagnose the lump which may well be a cyst (not cancerous) or an insect bite.

Even though it is comforting hearing from other members of the forum, do remember that other people's situations may be different from yours so it is difficult to compare one person with another.

The Patient Association have produced some information about how to get the best out of your appointment which you may find helpful to look at here

I do hope that you feel better soon.

    All the best,

    Catherine
