Abvd

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone had any positive outcomes for me , I am currently on AbVd number 11 and had a complete response at number 4. Since number 10 I have had a new node pop up on a spot that had no uptake before. Its on the right side of my neck half way up and it feels big.

I have had bloods done and had it checked 2 weeks ago and the nurses said I was run down and because I was suffering from oral thrush it was because of that.

However a few much smaller nodes have popped up around and I am beginning to panic again x

How big were people's reactive nodes when they popped up, not too sure if hodkins can come back after my positive scan at number 4.

Has anyone had anything like this happen to them and it was ok x

Thanks very much for your time x

  • Hi Lollipopku,

Hopefully some of our members who have had ABVD as part of their treatment will share their experiences with you soon but as you have posted in our nurses section of the forum I just wanted to let you know that they are out of the office over the Easter holidays but will get back to you as soon as they can once they return on Tuesday 11th April.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello, and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about your concern. It is understandable to  worry when you can feel new lymph nodes.

Your nurses seemed pretty sure that the swollen nodes are probably caused by your recent infection. With all the chemotherapy that you have had over the last few months it is reasonable to assume that this has had quite an impact on your immune system hence your recent thrush infection. Hopefully with rest and drinking plenty of fluids this will hopefully help the lymph nodes to decrease.

It is encouraging that your Hodgkin's had a positive response after your fourth course and your recent blood showed no cause for concern.

If however this continues to worry you then do get it checked again by your haematologist or nurse.

Even though it is reassuring to hear from other members on the forum do remember that everyone's situation is so different.

When you have your next appointment do talk through your concerns with your haematologist and so hopefully they can put your mind at rest.

You have posted in ask the nurses but if you post on another thread then you may find that you get more responses.

Lymphoma Action also have various support groups and you may find it helpful joining a group near where you live.

Have a look at their details here

If you would like to talk any of this through with one of the helpline nurses then you are welcome to give us a ring.

Our helpline number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    All the best,
