Sarcoma plastic surgeon

Hi, I recently underwent an ultrasound for a sometimes painful lump in my abdomen, then I was sent for an MRI just over a week ago. I have received a letter telling me I have an appointment 10 days away with a plastic surgeon in the sarcoma unit.

can anyone shed any light on why I will be seeing a plastic surgeon? I am starting to worry a bit as I am youngish (28) and recently started a family. Thanks for any help..

  • Hello B and thanks for posting,

I can understand you asking, but I am afraid I don't know why you have been given this appointment. It might be to explain the results from your recent scans. Or it could be to discuss a tissue biopsy which doctors sometimes need to complete the picture. But this is only guesswork, it is probably best not to speculate and sit tight until you have the chance to speak to the surgeon.

I do appreciate that 'not knowing'  is unsettling. Try not to overthink things for now and put it at the back of your mind if you can.

Give us a ring if you want to talk anything over, our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around weekdays from 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
