Pre cancerous cells in uterus

Hi there, looking for experience in this area as I was originally told from hystoscopy that there was nothing to worry about but now I need a full hysterectomy and all that comes with this. My gynecologist was very nice and practical and has helped with dates. She seems to think that there's nothing to worry about but I don't really trust her completely after her initial communication, unless I am being overly sensitive. Has anyone else had a similar experience please

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I presume you have a condition called atypical endometrial hyperplasia. This is a precancerous condition that can develop in the lining of the uterus (called the endometrium). It is an overgrowth of abnormal cells. You can read more about this condition on an NHS website by clicking here.

Atypical hyperplasia can turn into uterine cancer further down the line if left untreated. A hysterectomy is usually advised to prevent this from happening. The NHS website has some information on having a hysterectomy at this link

I’m not sure if anyone else will come along and post, if they do it might not shine much light on what’s going on with you because everyone's situation is different.

I hope this has been of some help. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
