New to Forum help please

Hi I'm 59 recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer...Full abdominal hysterectomy and omentectomy. Came home contracted Covid in hospital, then wound infection,  then upon staple removal my wound reopened!  Now developed sinus at bottom of the wound that is constantly leaking! Have to laugh or I'd cry lol! It's been four weeks 2 days and could do with a few thoughts please....
I've still got right sided discomfort as if something pressing g or pulling inside
Massive bruising appeared on right side week 3 post op and on left side this week...
Is this usual?
I'm still waiting for histology results apparently there is a back log. I was due to be discussed at MDT last Monday so now been postponed till next Monday....what would be usual treatment?  Starting to get anxious, please help thank you xxxx

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I'm sorry you haven't had an easy ride healing from your surgery, so frustrating for you. Other members of the forum may come forward with their own experiences after surgery for ovarian cancer but these things can be quite individual. It can take time for the body to heal after major surgery, so aches and pains at different stages are not unusual, but if you are worried do let your doctor know.

Here is a link to recovering from ovarian cancer surgery.

I'm glad your team will be discussing you on Monday at the Multi Disciplinary Team meeting (MDT). They will put together a plan of treatment that is suitable for you from all the information they have.

I have here a page on treatment for ovarian cancer.

Here is a link to Ovacome, the UK's ovarian cancer charity, which might have resources and support that are useful for you.

Take care and if you want to talk anything through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9 till 5, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
