Swollen Lymph Node and Ultra Sound Scan

Hi

I was at the Hospital this morning to have an Ultra Sound Scan on my right lymph node. It has been slightly swollen for approx 8 months. I got an early appointment (cancellation). When getting the scan, she spent alot of time on my throat area, back of my neck at my hair line.  She took 48 images, which I felt was in excess. She never commented and stated the Doctor would be touch. As stated she spent alot of time on my throat and right side of my neck and a short time on my left side. Would this indicate they found something?  I just felt the time and number of photos was quite alot. Has anyone else had a lot of photos as well getting this done?

  • Hello and thanks for your post

It's not unusual for a sonographer ( person taking the scan) to take several images. This doesn't mean that something is definitely wrong but I'm afraid no one is going to be able to tell you any more for now until you get your results.

Waiting when you are worried is never easy but I’m afraid there is no real way round this. Some people find talking it through with family and friends and keeping busy can sometimes help. But until you know more it’s natural to worry.

I'm not sure if anyone else will come along and post, if they do it might not shine much light on what is going on with your lump as everyone's situation is different.

I hope you know more soon and that everything turns out to be okay.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
