I have had appointment through for next week .Went on three patient app to make a Dr appointment  a d seen he had put abnnormal  scan  suspected  gynaecological  cancer he never told me he though it was cancer  now I'm really worried  and not slept

  • Hi

the 2 week referral is called the 2 week cancer pathway. So the GP may have a suspicion or may even just be slightly concerned hence why you've been booked the appointment.

I know it's hard not to worry but do try to remember the body is very complex and your symptoms can (and are often more likely to be) a number of other things. No one knows for sure until tests are done, so please try not to panic

  • Hi thanks for your response I'm having a hysteroscopy  done on the 21st which is quick so hop won't worry too long

I originally  went as I thought I had pulled a muscle as we had been doing the garden  that's when he arranged the 4 ultrasound  tests one pelvic one abdomen  and one transvaginal  scan he had pressed my groin and it really hurt .The scan cane back abnormal thsts what's worrying  me I had a camera both ways ladt yr and both those said fast track cancer referal I've only just seen that on my notes .has anyone had a diagnosis of uterine cancer and what followed .I'm presuming it's my uterus as he said that was what was showing too thickened which it shouldn't be I'm 70 yrs old x

  • Hi l had a referral to gynaecology oncology from colorectal dept they found complex ovarian cysts, After surgery to remove the cysts  and extensive adhesions on the left side where the pain was, the biopsies were fortunately  benign .
the two week wait for colonoscopy and then another to gynaecology were a bit worrying, as you can convince yourself of anything

l hope your appointment is soon

  • I saw my GP about pain and swelling, mostly in the calf but also in the groin and pelvis. A few weeks later I started spotting, bleeding and sometimes heavily bleeding on a daily basis. I got covid and had to wait a few more weeks before seeing the GP  and I was promptly referred on the 2 week pathway for post menopausal bleeding. I had my ultrasound scans (thickened womb lining, adnexal mass and polyps) followed same day by hysteroscopy. Within the next 10 days I had blood tests, CT and MRI scans. My diagnosis was not cancer. Symptoms can be from a number of different things but obviously they want to rule out cancer first. It is normal to worry but try to remember that you don't have a diganosis yet.

Good luck, I hope all goes well.

  • Hi thank you Leni

it's good to hear that someone has had a similar  problem  and the results were OK I have been worried  to death .I'm 70 yrs old and thsts why he says suspected  cancer he daid I'm post menopause  I don't know how old you are but he said in younger women the womb lining thickens ready or a period then sheds but that wouldn't be the case due to my age. I also have a reactive lymph node It dosent help I've lost my twin to lung cancer 2 months ago I have sent you a friend request

  • Hello

I see you have had some really good responses from others here in the Cancer Chat comunity, but I thought we should say something too.  Many people find it frightening to be put on the urgent referal pathway.  But its good to note that only about one in ten people on the pathway turn out to have cancer.  So there is still a good chance that it isn't cancer, and because you and your doctor have both done the right thing, if it is, there is a good chance that it will have been caught early.  Try to do something to take your mind off things while you are waiting, it is probably not a good idea to do internet searches of your symptoms at the moment as this won't tell you how likely it is that this will turn out to be cancer and will keeps things front of mind for you.  I hope you get some answers soon.

    Take care

    Martin

  • Thank you Martin I try not to worry  I'm just thinking about it all the time and today they confirmed I had a small inguinial hernia on the left side that's is whey I went originally They happened to do the pelvic abdominal and transvaginal scan  to find out what it was  and that's when I had my appointment netherworld dr said it was abnormal and LT lymph node is reactive don't know what that means . I am going next Tuesday for the hystroscopy hopefully they will give me some answers . The dr receptionist said if any thing bad had come back on the scan the dr would have phoned me  Or the scan place would have phoned me I already had booked an appointment  for the week after the ultrasound
