Vagial bleeding after a poo

About 4/5 week ago i started to bleed a little after a poo. The blood comes from my vagina. I have always had trouble with my periods. Last week I had my coil removed owing to it been in 8 years. My coil was inserted because I bled for 2 years. I have fibroids on the outside of my uterus. What could it be causing the blood ? I am really concerned. I am going to the doc but have to wait until my uterus stops bleeding after the coil removal. Could it be my hormones have started to play up again owing to having too much oestrogen again. I am 64 year old.

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

There could be any number orf reasons why you are bleeding after you have a poo but it is really only your GP who can assess you and perhaps organise a few tests that can really find out the cause.

This could involve having a vaginal ultrasound which may help to identify the problem.

The NHS have produced some information on different reasons why women may bleed after the menopause which you may find helpful to look at here

Keep an open mind as there are many non cancer conditions that may be the cause but it is always important to have it investigated.

I do hope that you know more soon.

If you feel that it would be helpful to ring and discuss this with one of the nurses on the helpline then you are very welcome to do so.

We are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and our phone number is Freephone 0808 800 4040.

    All the best,

    Catherine
