I had my first colonoscopy Feb2022, the nurse was not caring to much to explain me the difference between the gas and the sedation and the procedure.the only thing she said is that with gas I could go home earlier. My son was outside waiting for me so because that I choosed the gás.
Was the worst experience ever, plus when the doctor started the procedure I hold the gases not passing the wind and it caused me a pain and I complained that I was about to faint. The doctor asked me to relax and fart normal and not hold, but I think was to late because the insulation caused me a permanent pain on my groin area, I struggle even now with the discomfort.
On that they they wasn't able to remove my polyp as I felt to much pain, they did again in November 2022 with sedation and was successfull with no pain.
Now I have to learn how to live with this discomfort just because off this horrible gás they offer to us for "sedation " and nobody is responsible for what I went trough, lost job because of the pain as I couldn't do it, was unemployed for a while and now I manage better the discomfort but the doctors couldn't find out what's happened with my bad experience.
If someone need a colonoscopy please ask to be sedate, don't have the same horrible experience that I had!
I love NHS but crossed my mind take the colonoscopy clinic to the court for bad practice and for leave me with a permanent mild pain in my groin area.
