Afraid.

Hello everyone 

 

I am 15 years post breast cancer. Turning 55 in 6 days. 

 

I attended my GP for chronic diarhoe every 4/5 days.  

 

After bloods all came back clear. 

Examination appeared ok 

He asked me alot of questions 

 

He then explained he was putting me on the cancer pathways although he said something about he feels its highly unlikely its cancer.  

 

Has anyone else been put on this. 

 

So far I've done Sample sending to labs and awaiting to find out the next step 

 

I eat immodium like sweets on these days just to exist enough to get out the bathroom  

 

I'm getting obsessed by Google which I do know is silly.

    It must be difficult when you have had a previous cancer and are worried about either a recurrence or a second diagnosis but do remember that other forum users  experiences are going to be individual to them.  And as this is a cancer forum the focus will be on a cancer diagnosis rather than the many other reasons that you could have diarrhoea. I have posted here a link to the GUTS UK charity who have a page on this.

    The cancer pathway, also know as the 2 week wait (2WW) is a quicker way of the doctor ruling out a cancer diagnosis. Here is the information from our website about these type of referrals.

    Take care, and hopefully you will hear more news soon. If you are able to try and not search for answers through google as it can make your anxiety feel worse. I appreciate it must be difficult when you are so worried but if you can keep busy so you are distracted, then time will hopefully help time pass for you until you get more answers.

    I'm not a nurse, but saw your post and hope my experience may help you in getting your head around things.

    My partner was diagnosed with bowel cancer from screening (no symptoms) + had curative surgery.  Short time later, I had increased bowel movements/looser stools, low abdo pain and then an episode of blood on paper.  Queue massive anxiety and referral for colonoscopy.  
    Anyways - found to have an internal haemorrhoid and a sessile polyp , which were both removed at the time!  I see you are similar age to me & so, maybe peri or post menopausal.  Apparently hormones round this time can play havoc with bowels (as well as everything else it feels).

    Just wanted to say there are many, many things that can affect bowels.  A qFIT 'poo' test was 1st step for me, it was negative, which GP said could pretty much exclude bowel cancer, but colonoscopy is Gold Standard & can detect anything going on (& it's really not as bad as you'd think)
