Biopsy results

I had a biopsy from my Omentum on 15/02. Having had cancer in 2005 there is a strong possibility it has returned. Trying to get my results as anxiety is having a huge impact on myself and family. Consultants secretary says letter is waiting to be typed and it then has to be sent, could be some time yet! I know the NHS is under pressure but there must be a way to get results quicker than this?

  • Hello Adams.b344 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you haven't had your biopsy results yet and can understand that waiting and not knowing creates a lot of anxiety.

I'm afraid I am not sure how you can get these results very much sooner, but you could try contacting the hospital Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to see if they can help, you can find out more about them and what they do on the NHS website at this link

If you have a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) you could see what they can find out for you, but it is up to the consultant to interpret results in context, so the CNS may not be able to explain them properly.

Try your best to keep an open mind and distract yourself while you are waiting. easier said than done I know.

Give us a ring if you want to talk anything over.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
