When will the bleeding stop

Hi can I ask after an LLETZ is it normal to still be bleeding 5 weeks later, today I’ve started passing clots as well which I’ve never done before, still waiting for my results, this wait is excruciating

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

By now the bleeding should be getting less and in some cases stopped. So I think you should let the colposcopy clinic or your GP know that you are still bleeding and have recently passed clots. If along with this you feel unwell, with or without a high temperature, this might be a sign of an infection so do report it to the colposcopy clinic, GP or call the NHS on 111 and let them know.

You can read more about a LLETZ procedure on our website here

I hope you will be okay and that your hear about your results soon.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline

  • Thank you for your speedy reply! The bleeding has got less compared to how it was at the beginning but it hasn't stopped yet, it's very draining, I will get in touch with the clinic, I had 2 infections a week after the procedure was done, this is not easy! Crikey
