Long Term Effects of Cladribine

Hi All,

I was diagnosed with HCL and CLL exactly a year ago and had a successful course of Cladribine Chemotherapy.

12 months on and i still suffer aches and pains, abdominal discomfort, recurrent chest, skin and other infections. My WBC had dropped a few times, but recovered to low normal levels.

Is this normal??  I have been to the Doctors on numerous occassions, but now feel i'm just a problem patient. My december follow up  with Heamotology Oncology was canceled at last minute and moved to mid March.

Just feel i cant get any straight answers off anyone at the moment

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about the treatment you had last year and about the ongoing symptoms you are experiencing.

Unfortunately treatment can have some longer term side effects that can take a while to clear from the system and then settle after stopping treatment. This includes cladribine here.

I'm afraid there is no one here who can say for sure what is going on so it really is a matter of speaking to your specialist doctor about this so they can assess you and recommend things to help you through.

Hope you start feeling better soon and that your appointment goes well in a couple of weeks.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
