Hello Puttypoo and thanks for posting,
Patients can always make their preferences known and they would have to be informed about the pros and con of any recommended treatment in order to consent to have it, but it isn't usually possible to have a treatment that your specialist doesn't think to be in your best interests. So you might not be able to insist.
But for now until you know the score, and if you can, try and take things one step at a time. Waiting and not knowing is so very challenging and it is difficult not to overthink things. But it is probably best to wait to find out what is going on before anticipating any decisions you may need to make about having treatment.
In the coming week until your appointment try and focus on doing what works for you to manage the inevitable stress of the situation you are in.
