cyst found on cervix

hi everyone

I just wanted a bit of advice as I am slowly spirling into the worse case scenario!

So back at the begining of december last year I went to the docs as i was very moody, anxious and just on edge all of the time. I put this down to stress and theres been a lot of it. The doc then asked me about my periods. My periods are each month but i started to notice that one month it could be in the middle of the month and the next one at the begining and i can get bloatedness (which is something I have always had) The doc decided to send me for an ultra and an internal one. All come back clear just a slight thickness of the womb linning but in normal range. so the doc wanted me to have another ultra in 6 weeks. I had that done  today but no internal one. The doc noticed the linning of my womb is still slighter thicker but again in normal range. he did however notice a cyst on my cervix which he said is nothing to worry about as it can be normal and he didnt seem too worried about this.  All my blood tests have come back normal too. Has anyone else been through this? and what was the outcome? I did discuss with the doc that I think I maybe going through the peri menopause which I have found out can cause a slight thickness to the womb linning.(noticed that my last period was only 3 days long) With the cyst, what happenes now? The doc mentioned he will do a report back to my Gp and they will be in touch.

I am worried and I know I will keep thinking about it all and I have already gone down that rabbit hole of anxiety. I am so scared of what is to come. I have to add im 41 and my mum was the same age as me when she went through the menopause.

Any advice would be great!

  • Hi Catsx2 and thanks for posting,

I'm sorry to hear you are having such a worrying time at the moment.

You have posted in the ask the nurses section of the forum, you may get more people sharing their experiences if you put this post in another section as well. Do remember that everyone is different and may be in what seems to be a similar situation, but have a very different outcome.

The thickening of the lining of your womb is quite common during perimenopause and is often nothing to worry about.  It sounds like you are being closely monitored by your doctors, and as they say, they will send a report about what they have found to your GP.  This will tell you the next steps if there are any.  Unfortunately no one on this forum can tell you what will happen next with the cyst.  Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the outcome of the report.

Lots of people feel very anxious while they are waiting for results.  Some people find it helps to keep themselves busy.  There are also some tips on this website to help control those thoughts that keep us awake at night, which you might like to have a look at.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Rachel

  • Hi Rachel

thank you for your reply. I think I have changed to another selection on the forum right. Yes it's so worrying and I am so glad that the go is on it and for sorting out the scans and blood tests.

    thanks again.
