I had a baby 12 weeks ago. Since then I have developed a few painful lumps on my cervix and I have noticed a lump under the skin of my vulva along with persistent itching which has been checked and no yeast infection.

lower abdomen and back pain and swelling. I also keep getting high blood pressure results

i have a smear booked but if anyone has advice I would appreciate it

  • Hello North 2023 and thanks for posting,

I think the best thing to do is to see your GP to get your symptoms properly checked out. Unfortunately, no one here on Cancer Chat can tell anyone with unexplained symtpoms what is the matter for sure, so our advice is always to see your GP.

When a smear is taken the nurse has to be able to see the cervix so they should be able to give you an idea about how healthy yours looks. Lumps on the cervix can sometimes be cysts (fluid filled sacs) so ask the nurse what they can see. The lump on the vulva might also be a cyst, ask the nurse to take a look at it.

Tell your GP about the abdominal and back pain, swelling and high blood pressure and see what they think. Most of the time things like this aren't caused by anything as serious as cancer, but it makes sense to get properly checked. I hope they can sort you out and things improve for you.

Please give us a ring if you want to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
