Bladder Cancer diagnosis

Hello

In January was diagnosed with bladder cancer Ta G2 no chemo wash given, as was unavailable. It was a single tumour 1.2 cm
On diagnosis was told no treatment at the moment just 6 monthly camera checks.
I don't want treatment if not necessary, but just feel uneasy and a bit in limbo.
Has anyone been in a similar situation

thank you

  • Hello Jules2017 and thanks for posting,

I am not sure if anyone else will come along and post, if not you might want to try another online community for example the forum linked to the charity Fight Bladder Cancer - you can find out about this here.

I think having a check up ahead of you after early bladder cancer treatment can feel unsettling, but it is routine and a lot of the time everything will be ok. Even with treatment into the bladder, early bladder cancer can come back sometimes. The idea of the planned check is that if this were to happen it would be picked up so that hopefully any further treatment would be straightforward.

Do talk to your hospital team if you have a concern about not being given the chemo wash and ask them to put it in context for you. If you have a specialist nurse, they might be a good person to get in touch with.

Give us a ring if you want to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Julia

  • Hello Julia

    Thank you for your reply.

I did raise my concerns about the chemo wash with my consultant at the time of being given my results. He did apologise that it wasn't given, it was due to no having a specialist nurse available, also said the marginal affect on the outcome.
    I wasn't given a specialist nurse.
In my letter from the meeting of the results it stresses is superficial so maybe I'm just over reacting.
Thank you again for getting back to me.
