2 months????????? To treatment???

So my smear test went horribly wrong... no cervix and pain and ' mass' ohhhh why did she say mass??anyway... urgent referral made and now I am working it out.. I am in Devon.
is it one month from referral to diagnosis and two months from referral to treatment starting??? Because the doc knew what it was even though she played cautious..so I want to get on with it... we are very poor and my son has no dad... what's the life expectancy for mass in the vaginal tunnel thing??? Awwwwwww

  • Hello Littlefluffy666 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn about this mass and can understand how stressful it is not to know what's going on.

Bear in mind that a mass is just an unidentified area of tissue which can have other causes aside from cancer. But if it is cancer, then the first treatment is meant to start within 62 days of an urgent referral from the GP. Our website explains the NHS cancer waiting time targets at this link

There is no way of trying to work out anyone's outlook until a cancer has been confirmed and assessed.

If you need to, you can take a look at the information about benefits and financial support for people with cancer on the website of Macmillan Cacner Support  . You can also look at our website which has information about coping with cancer here  .

But for now I think you should be wary of anticipating what is the matter or what the outcome of whatever is will be. It is only natural for your mind to be trying to work things out, but until you have the facts it is only guesswork that could be way off the mark, so try and stay neutral for now.

Please call us if you want to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around weekdays, 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
