Do I tell my family

Hi all, found a lump, have a piercing was wondering if it has anything to do with the lump. Also do I tell my family to get it checked out first. Don't want to worry anyone if I don't need too. Need some advice please..

  • I'm not a nurse and obviously can't give any advice as to whether it is related to the piercing, but as regards your family, it's really up to you. I do think you should get it checked out. Most likely, you will get some reassurance but in the worst case scenario, the sooner it gets treated, the better.

What is best to do with your family will depend both on what you are comfortable with and what your family are like. If they are very inclined to worry, then perhaps wait until you have seen your GP. If he does refer you for further tests, they will have plenty of time to prepare after that (and the odds will still be that it is nothing serious) and if he doesn't and tells you it's fine, there isn't really anything to tell them.

On the other hand, if they are likely to be supportive, it might be a good idea to tell them immediately, so you will have some support.

There's no right or wrong answer here. It's just about what's best for you.

  • Hello there

I am sorry but no one here can say what this lump may be caused by but I think it is a good idea to tell a family member so they can take a look.

If they aren't sure they can arrange an appointment with your doctor to get it checked out.

Most lumps and bumps are caused by something far less serious than a cancer so try not to worry too much but do speak to someone about it soon.

    Take care
