After colposcopy

Hey eveyone,

Yesterday I had to attend my colposcopy appointment and had to get a thing called a punch biopsy. They told me I could experience pain like a period pain would be. I was wanting to know if anyone experienced weighing heavier on the scales?? I'm in the process of trying to lose weight and today was my weigh day and I'm heavier, I am also on the last day of my period! But was wondering if it's common to seem heavier after something like this?

thank you xxx

  • Hi Coco25 and thanks for posting.

Having a colposcopy and a punch biopsy can cause cramps and a period like pain, some people also have bleeding and discharge for a week.  From the information I could find it wouldn't appear that being heavier is something that usually happens after you have had this procedure.

You mentioned you were on the last day of your period. Some people also find that around this time they have fluid retention caused by hormone fluctuations.  This can cause you to weigh slightly more.

You have posted in the ask the nurses section of cancer chat.  You may find that you get some more people responding to your question if you post in another section, but please remember that everyone has different experiences.

    I hope this is helpful
