Lumpectomy and Sentinal node biopsy

Hi all,

I was just wondering if the pathology that comes back after lumpectomy and sentinal node biopsy changed a lot from the pathology information that came through via the needle biopsy.
I was told I had a small early invasive ductal carcinoma ER and PR positive and HER2 negative. My mind is going into overdrive waiting on the pathology coming back from the surgery, worrying that things may get worse than I'd initially thought.
I have read a lot of stories where things seemed to change for women after surgery usually with tumours being bigger or having been more aggressive than first thought.
Id love to hear from anyone who has passed through this stage and how things went.
thanks,

J

  • Me again jj, I have the letter now says size 23mm by 27mm. Originally 26mm by 20mm. So a small increase from ultra sound biopsy  to surgery. 10 weeks later. Which was time to consider which operation  & start letrazole.stay positive.

  • Thanks Pipestril, that's very helpful. I'm feeling a bit better, I think the worry and spiralling of thoughts seems to be just par for the course... Trying to stay active and positive during these waiting periods.
I hope that you yourself are ok ️ thanks again for coming back to me and updating me on your own experiences
