    Hi Marshall16

I just read your post and as I've been through so many problems with my anus and bowels from a very young age like you ( I'm much older now lol) I thought I'd reach out to you to hopefuly help you.

First thing I'd say to you is have you discussed this with any family member, like mum or dad, older siblings if you have any,as I noticed you said you were embarrased about it. I can understand you being embarrased as the anus or bowels ( colon) or problems with them ,isn't something we find easy to talk about.

But I'm sure if you do speak to your family, it will be good and like me they will probably say that the best thing to do is go to your doctors to disscuss your symptoms, belive me doctors have seen and heard many people with the same kind of problems over and over again, and it's all in a days work for them, they will put you at ease and you will find it's easier to disscuss your symptoms, and better still the doctors, can either give you something to help you,or tell you what it is,or if they need you to see a consultant who deals with these kind of problems and maybe give you some medication  to help you, or send you for tests if they need to .

You may have ibs, which can be helped with medication. But there are many things that it could be ,you may have Internal hemerouds as well as external hemroids, which can also be treated.

Or you could have diverticulitis, or ulcerative colitis, or chrons  diesese. Or polyps .

All of which can be  treated ,if found.

I've had all of the above, so know.

Just get yourself an appointment at the doctors,as you  are obviously worried, that's the first step you need to take, and maybe talking to a family member or really close friend, who may support you ,and go to the doctors with you.

I do hope you pluck up the courage  and go,I do pop on here from time to time, and I'd love to know how you get on,and if you need to let of steam, and talk about things like what doctors said  ...any tests he or she may or may not send you to ,I'm here ,I've been through 39 colonocscpys ,numerous polyps removed, hemroids injected, ulcerative colitis at age 18 many yrs ago now.  Diverticulitis, spastic colon, right side bowel resection, hernia repair caused by bowel coming through my stomach wall .

You name it, I've been through most tests to diognose my problems and I'm still here to . Goodwick with evertything  im sending you positive vibes.x

  • Hi Marshall16 and thanks for posting.

It does sound like you are really worried about what is happening at the moment.

It would be a good idea to see your GP. I know that it feels really embarrassing to have to talk to someone about this, but they will be able to help you find out what is happening.  You could talk to an adult you trust about this before you go and they may be able to come with you if you want them to.

There are lots of conditions that can cause blood in your poo, it sounds like you have read about some of them, but it is best to get it checked out.  This can help you to put your mind at rest.

The doctor will probably want to examine you, and may do some blood tests or a test on your poo and then decide what happens next.

The internet makes it really easy to find out about lots of different conditions, but sometimes it can just make us worry more, so perhaps until you have seen your doctor try not to read anything else.

I hope this is helpful, but do give us a call if you want to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Rachel
