Lump on testicle

So about a month ago I found a lump on my testicle. Not big just smaller than a pea. I went to the doctors and he referred me to urologistfor a scan. I went yesterday and within 20 secs of checking me (with no scan) said it was a epididymal cyst. Should I not have had a scan to confirm this? It was all done within seconds. I am also tired all the time, have lower back pain and regular lower abdomen pain.

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

It sounds like you were checked out by a doctor who examined your testicles.  An epididymal cyst can be felt by a doctor, and the doctor you saw was a specialist in urology. If the doctor was not confident in his diagnosis then an ultrasound scan would have been done.

I think the best thing to do, if you're still worried, is to read the letter that you will be sent explaining the outcome of the appointment you had. Your GP will also get a copy of the letter too. You could talk it through with your GP.

In the meantime you might find the information from Patient Info about epididymal cysts useful to read, you can see it here

I hope this has been helpful.

    Take care,

    Caroline
