Breast cancer ?

I'm 49 years old the past month my right breast has been painful 

on checking a small lump on the top edge of the nipple has appeared 

I'm conxerned as my mum had breast cancer twice which then led to multiple cancers that later causes her death. Should I push for a mammogram 

I don't want to panic but am getting worried

    Breast pain is not a common sign of cancer, and can be due to infection, cysts, inflammation or changing hormone levels.

    Any new lumps or bumps should always be checked out by your GP. Most are straightforward explanations, but it is sensible to get checked out for peace of mind.

    So maybe make an appointment anyway.
