Vulva cancer

Hi i' m 36 years old and since October I have had a vulva persistent itch that just won't go away on that same side I have a small like (wart) which has been there for a long time it's red and so sore I'm getting to a point where its affecting my daily life its all I think about, I'm going to calk doctors tomorrow and see if I could get a referral but worried they won't take me seriously given my age

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

It is good to hear that you have an appointment today and hopefully they will have been able to put your mind at rest.

Vulval cancer is not a particularly common cancer and even more so at your age. The itchyness that you are feeling may be an infection and the small wart may be a harmless cyst but of course I can't be sure. It may be a Bartholin cyst which are harmless fluid filled sacs that are found at the entrance to the vagina. Have a look here

The doctor may take a swab to see if an infection is present and maybe able to give you some cream to relieve your symptoms. Whilst you are waiting for it to get better use a gentle soap such as simple to avoid any irritation in the area.

I do hope that it feels better soon.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • Hi,

I have a very similar thing going on with me. Itching on and off since November now noticing a wart growth. Have you had any luck with diagnoses?

  • Hi I have still had no joy with a diagnosis I have been in the wait list for a referal to dermatology since October I called them last week and just said I'm on the list they will let me know when an appt is available hope you get a diagnosis soon x

  • I cannot believe you are still waiting since October!! So sorry about that. Is your GP at all concerned? How is your itch does it get worse or stay the same? X

  • The itch can sometimes be so intense I have some creams dermovate, a vaselime type cream and also a cream to ise in the shower, it's just so embarrassing too sometimes it's all I think about and feel like it consumes my life just because of where it is my doctor does believe its lichen sclerosis but do just want a diagnosis

  • It is very embarrassing but I try not to let that take over. Is your wart thing still there? The NHS can be so difficult especially just now with waiting times. If I was you I would keep phoning and say it's really affecting your life x
