Neck pain

Hi

Just wondered if my neck pain may be related to tamoxifen.  I am awaiting an appointment with physio.  My left hand side of the back of my neck has the most dullest ache and my neck is constantly clicking and grinding.  I've been told to put a heat compress on it whilst waiting for my appointment.  This is my sixth year on tamoxifen and up to now had no problems other than usual aches and pains.  I have also had a bleed after having nothing since April 2022 and my oncologist has referred me for an ultrasound scan to check the thickening of the womb.  I just wonder whether it may be time to come off it but have been told I have to take it for another 5 years.  My stomach is also much more swollen than normal.

Many thanks for reading

Sandy

  • Hello

Although I haven't come across neck pain being specifically listed as a side effect of tamoxifen, it quite possible to get aches and pains in joints and muscles with it.  So it may well be something to do with the tamoxifen.  It is good to read that you are getting things checked out with your doctor.  It is always good to get things checked out and not assume its a drug side effect.  If you wanted to consider coming off tamoxifen, talk to your doctor about it so you can weigh up the risks if you did stop it and the potential benefits of staying on it.  I hope that is helpful.
