Lump over my collar bone

A few months ago I noticed a small, painless and moveable lump going over my collarbone on the right side. Since having my baby almost 10 months ago, I have been suffering with crippling health anxiety (never suffered with any form of anxiety pre baby) so these past few months have been horrendous. I have no other symptoms literally just the lump. I have been obsessing looking back at old pictures to see if you can see anything to put my mind at rest. But my lump is barely visible anyway, you can only tell its there if you feel it. I have been avoiding the GP out of fear but have finally booked an appointment for next week.

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. We can't diagnose you but it does sound like the lump on your collarbone would be unlikely to be anything too serious as it is small and has not changed in size since you first noticed it. Most people get lumps at some point in their life and the vast majority are nothing to worry about. Have a read about what the NHS have to say about lumps here

Your GP is there to help and support you when you are feeling anxious and worried about your health. They are trained to examine lumps and it is important that you share how you are feeling. Having health anxiety is exhausting particularly with a young toddler so do make an appointment soon. It is important that you share how you are feeling as it can be difficult bottling things up on your own

The NHS have a link called 'Every Mind Matters' which you can see here

I do hope these links may be helpful.

    Take Care,

    Catherine
