MRI results

Good afternoon,

I had an MRI in December. This was ordered by gynaecologist. The consultant didn't find anything gynaecological other than already known issue (adenomyosis). However, she has sent images to another department as there is a cyst on rectum, on liver and somewhere else. She wasn't reassuring at all. In fact her words were your guess is as good as mine .

I am terrified. I contacted GP surgery, they haven't even received the report. I am hoping to get a copy of the report.

  • Hi Autumnsunshineone and thanks for posting.

It sounds like you are having a worrying time at the moment.

Unfortunately, we are hearing from lots of people that results from scans and tests are taking longer than usual.

Your GP will normally receive a copy of the report, and you should be phoned or have an appointment to get your results.  This will usually be with the hospital department you had your appointment with.  They will tell you what happens next, which can be nothing if your scan is clear.

You can ask for a copy of the report too.

It can be really difficult waiting to hear about test results.  Some people find it is useful to keep themselves busy.  There is a website here that gives ideas about how to manage those thoughts that can keep you awake at night.

Hopefully this information is helpful and you get your results soon.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You might like to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Rachel
