a week ago i woke up with pain in the right side of my throat and my ear, it hurt and was hard to swallow or talk but i suspected i had a cold coming or something. that night i checked my throat and my tonsil was very swollen. i went to the GP the next morning and the doctor had no clue, another doctor came to look but also was unsure. it has no spots or distinct symptoms of tonsilitis or an STD. they took a swab and sent it off to grow a virus.
since then the pain has completely gone, and my tonsil has not changed at all. however, over the past 4 days i have felt continuously nauseous, have no appetite whatsoever, and have been extremely fatigued. i've missed work (i work evenings) and my classes that are later in the day because i feel too weak and nauseous to do anything.
i went back to the surgery today where a new doctor prescribed me anti-acids, and told me that my results have come back showing no signs of a virus. i get bad health anxiety so i was desperately hoping they would come back saying i have tonsilitis, even strep A would have been a positive for me. so long as a virus was found, i could get rid of the panic that i potentially had cancer. but there is no virus, and still a swollen tonsil with constant nausea and no appetite. my temperature has risen too.
cancer was not mentioned by the doctors, though because my symtoms have aligned i have panicked. i feel like i should have voiced these concerns to the doctor, but he didn't seem worried so i didn't mention it from fear of being laughed at. am i just overthinking this, or should i be concerned? i am only 17, and cancer runs in my family.
thank you in advance.
