Worried have lymphoma

Hi,

sorry wondering if anyone can help or reassure or advise! I have had a swollen lymph node about the size of a finger tip that's hard to touch but can move at the back of my neck. I originally saw GP who said they couldn't even feel it but me and my partner can 100% feel it. I've also felt 3 lymph nodes in my groin area all the same size quite small but hard but can easily be moved and feel a little rubbery. I haven't had any infections recently to my knowledge and the lymph node in my neck has at least been there for a year now, it hasn't grown just stayed the same.

im really anxious that I have lymphoma as I am also fatigued although recently my b12 and iron were low so can contribute to that. I have no other symptoms apart from fatigue and recently feel more breathless than usual.

I do have a gp telephone appointment soon but I'm just worrying myself sick!

  • Hello icerstar1999 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn how worried you are. Unfortunately no one here on Cancer Chat can diagnose so we can't properly reassure anyone, but bear in mind that there are a number of reasons why lymph nodes can get bigger so there could easily be another explanation aside from lymphoma.

It doesn't sound like these groin nodes are especially large, but they need to be assessed so it is good that you are going to be getting some input from your GP about them.  As the node you have noticed at the back of your neck hasn't changed in size for over a year hopefully it won't turn out to be anything to worry about.

When you speak to your GP do be direct and tell them what is worrying you and ask if you need to have any tests.  I hope they can help. For now try and keep an open mind.

Give us a call if you want to talk anything over, our number is 0808 800 4040 and we are around weekdays 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
