Biopsy result wait

Hi

I'm 32, I found a lump on my breast 7 weeks ago and was referred for an ultra sound. I had the ultra sound 6 days ago and worryingly they found two lumps and took biopsies which shocked me as I thought they would just say it's a cyst. I have an appointment scheduled with the hospital in 8 days time to discuss the biopsy results but I'm wondering would the hospital call me earlier if they found it was cancer? Or would they wait to tell me in that appointment?

I'm just asking as I'm worried, can't sleep, can't eat and feel drained whilst trying to work and look after my children,

Thanks x

  • Hi sparkle

    welcome

at my first appointment I was told it looked suspicious and biopsy confirmed BC .

Your appointment normally is to time tgey don't normally bring it forward if something is found .

i hope in your case it's not anything serious and you will be ok I think most breast clinic appointments only 2 in 10 get a diagnosis, they normally give you some indications on your scan if it looks suspicious if they didn't say anything hopefully all will be ok

please stay for support here if you need it x love Lara ️

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I'm sorry you are going through this now, I can appreciate that this must be a worry for you. However, you can't read anything into how long you are waiting for the results and how they are being given. This could still mean that nothing serious is the matter but you will have to wait to know what the results are. We do know that people are waiting longer for their results.

Waiting for the results of investigations and tests can be difficult, so if you can, try to keep your mind of this and keep yourself busy with everyday things, I know this is easier said than done.  I hope you have support from family and friends.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,
