Fibrocystic breast changes

Hello, a year ago I had a cancer scare, a lump had developed in my breast it was fairly small size of a Malteser and non Mobile and I had a biopsy and they called back and said it was fibrocystic breast changes but didn't give much other info just that it doesn't increase risk of Cancer.

Since then the lump has gotten massive size of a golf ball I will say. I also have a few other smaller lumps develop which they said I could develop more and that's normal.. question is, are all these lumps due to fibrocystic breast changes or could they be something else? How am I meant to know? And I even meant to be checking still because it seems pointless?

Thank you

  • Hi Jaydeyb.    Sorry to hear that the size of your lump has increased l would see your dr so he can refer you back to the Breast Clinic for assessment and possible biopsy, or mammogram. They are the local experts and have the experience to advise you.
l hope you are seen soon

    take care

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I'm sorry you are having these concerns about breast lumps and how to monitor them properly.

I wonder if you have been to your GP since more have appeared. It would be good to see them and get a review. They will then decide if further investigation is needed at the breast clinic.

Here is an information leaflet on fibrocystic breast changes, created by an NHS hospital trust. Yours may have similar online.

Take care, and hopefully you will get to talk this through with your doctor soon.

    Sarah.
