Shadow on lung

I have been suffering from low sodium levels since October 2021, also I have had many urine infections last November I started passing blood with clots so my husband took me to our local A@E they did blood tests including sodium which had dropped to 11 also they did a chest x-ray. I was admitted and given sodium intervenous, I had utra sound for my kidneys. When I was discharged I went for a CT scan on my pelvis and kidney during the scan they accidentally took part of lungs,  everything was find except they saw a shadow on my lung,  so I have had a follow up scan on my throat and lungs,  the general consultant on the ward where I was said I had a tumour and was being referred to the lung specialists. I am seventy three fortunately I live with my husband who was here when he rang. My daughter thinks he should of made a appointment to make sure someone was with me.  Do you think I definitely have lung cancer and how long have I got

Thank you very much

  • Hi Snowie and thanks for posting.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having a difficult time over the last few months.

Unfortunately no one here can tell you whether you have lung cancer.  You said you have had a follow up scan on your throat and lungs.  You may need to have other tests when you see the specialists before they are able to give you an answer.

Waiting for tests and appointments are so difficult, some people find it helps to keep busy. There is also some ideas here to help control those thoughts that keep you awake at night.

Hopefully you will hear back from the lung specialists soon with an appointment.

You might like to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Rachel
