Zoladex advice

39, been on zoladex for a month to preserve my fertility during chemo. Started chemo for breast cancer a fortnight ago.

Since being on zoladex I am having real trouble sleeping, only getting 4-5 hours a night. Very tired & finding it hard to function. Told my oncologist but she wants me to persevere during treatment.

Today I had my first hot flash; hot, dizzy & feeling sick to the point I had to stop what I was doing to sit down as I was worried I was going to faint.

Due my second injection Monday. Reluctant to get it if I'm going to be feeling like that regularly as well as sleep deprivation.

Has anyone got any experience of feeling ill/faint with hot flashes? Does it improve or will all flashes feel like this?

Is there anything I can take to ease the symptoms (I'm hormone positive so can't take HRT).

Thanks in advance

  • Hello and thanks for your post

People can be unique in the symptoms they experience, when taking hormone treatment. You can read more about the possible side effects of zoladex here . There is information here on how to manage side effects.

You may also find it helpful to speak to your breast specialist nurse or one of your breast care team about this as they are familiar with all your medical details and will be able to advise you further. You often have to call and leave them a message and they will get back to you.

Hopefully people will come along and share their experiences with you, as support like this can be invaluable for some people.

I hope this is of some use. Give us a ring if you would like to talk things over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
