Hi, I have been getting bad leg and back pain als9 swelling in the leg, so I saw my doctor and I have to do a urine tests for bence Jones and now I'm really worried
I'm sorry to hear you are having a worrying time at the moment.
You may have probably already looked it up on the internet and seen that a bence jones urine test is used to look for a type of cancer called myeloma that can affect the bone. But this may not be what is the matter, it is a relatively rare condition. The same symptoms that are caused by myeloma and other cancers can also occur because of other less serious conditions. To find out what is going on, doctors sometimes want to rule things out, so try and keep an open mind for now.
It is always hard when we are waiting for test results, our minds can run away with us and we can think all sorts of things. Some people find it useful to keep busy. Other people like to use techniques that can be found here to help them relax, and stop those thoughts going round and round.
I know it is difficult but try not to worry too much while you are waiting to hear something.
