Chemotherapy

Any know about ACL blood count and the problem with low count and chemotherapy.

just off a call from the chemo unit cancelling chemo (again) because of ACL problems.

Because of the time of day there's no one to talk to. We're so worried. This is the second round of chemo for Matastic bowel cancer.

Any advice would be welcome.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Unfortunately, our service is not out of hours, as the nurses respond between 9 to 5pm weekdays.

As I understand, this anticardiolipin antibody (aCL) blood test looks at levels of cardiolipin antibodies. These antibodies can affect how the blood clots.

It seems that sometimes the actual cancer, or some drugs, or an infection, can cause the levels to change. You will need to speak to the hospital team directly about this, as they are best placed to comment in more depth.

I hope that you get to find out more soon,

    Kind regards,

    Vanda

  • Hi Boly

I have literally just had the very same phone call cancelling my chemo scheduled for tomorrow.  I asked the chemo nurse to speak to the doctor and get back to me, giving me more information.

How many shots of chemo have you had? I have had 2, tomorrow would have been my third and next week would be my week off.
