High grade servere 6 months after lletz

Hi im hoping someone can put my mind at rest .

I had my smear come back in April high grade moderate...had a colposcopy with lletz and biopsy which come back cin1....

Six months later test of cure has come back high grade servere ..

I'm freaking out I have cancer....im thinking if I only had a colposcopy and lletz with cin 1 I hopefully don't .....

Maybe they missed a bit or the smear is wrong...

Anyone had this

  • Hello and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your recent screening result and appreciate your worries.

Please try not to worry or over think things if you can for now and wait and see what the colposcopy team say at your appointment.

Remember the screening programme is all about prevention and monitoring and treating any abnormality until everything returns to normal.

Unfortunately sometimes more than one treatment is necessary to remove abnormal cells and that is why they check 6 months after treatment in case more treatment is needed.

It usually takes a long time for abnormal cells to turn to cancer so it is unlikely that anything worse than pre cancerous cells will be found. In the rare occasion when cancer is found during screening it is usually found at an early stage where it can be successfully treated, but I think this would unlikely in your case.

I hope this helps but do get in touch again if you have more questions. We also have our helpline open weekdays 9-5 on 0808 800 4040.

    Take care

    Naomi
