Do I need to stop searching?

I'm at the point now that I either need to push forward or get some help for health anxiety ....

April change in bowel movements (going in the night and texture)

May calproctin test normal

May ovarian cyst removed normal

July saw blood in poo

September

2x positive pharmacy "blood in poo" tests

tummy ache starts off and on

went to GP and had 2 negative FIT tests and normal blood test

frequest small amounts of red blood in pop and stomach ache is now all the time in Lower abdominal and up rectum

5x GPs telling me I have IBS prescribed lots

of different medicine and none work

December - I go private and have a CT scan and they find 2 small polyps and nothing else

prescribed mild anti depressants to numb nerve ending in rectum - no change

GP says just need to live with it and wait colonoscopy in June.

All medics say I don't have bowel cancer but I'm still unsure due to discomfort and increasingly worried

Any advice welcome as not sure if I need to peruse or get some help! :/

  • Everything I've read on here states colonoscopy is the gold standard test. So not sure if you had one last June, or if you have to wait to June 2023 for one.

If it's the former, and you've had one, then it won't be anything sinister.

  • Stop searching and please celebrate the fact that, unlike many people on here, you do not have cancer.

  • Hello and thanks fo your post,

It sounds like you need to be reassured by what your doctors are telling you and try to stop looking for answers.

We can't diagnose you but it does sound like you have had many different tests and they have all come back negative so do try and be reassured by what they are telling you.

Anxiety about health can make any symptoms seem so much worse. There are various organisations that offer help with anxiety. You may find it helpful to look at Anxiety UK here

The NHS have a website called 'Every Mind Matters' which you might find helpful to look at here

I do hope this has helped reassure you.

    All the Best,

    Catherine
