Had an Endoscopy in 2018 and a Colonoscopy before it,  while it was uncomfortable i coped with it, didn't gag on the tube despite just having the throat spray and got told i have Diverticulitis. Yesterday i had a 2nd Endoscopy after a CT scan and Barium meal said i had Stomach Polyps. The doctor suggested i be sedated as they would need to take Biopsies. Had a Canulla put in my arm and in i went. The nurse said you had a throat spray last time how did you find it? I said i coped with it, no gagging or anything so she said shall we do it again? It was horrific from the first moment. She kept touching the back of my throat with the applicator which made me gag. Laid down, sprayed again, same problem, gagged again. I gagged continuously throughout the whole time, the lady seemed so much rougher than the man who i'd had previously and at one point i almost fainted from the pain.It felt more like a hosepipe was being used and had to apologise to the nurse when i'd panicked and squeezed her hand so hard that i hadn't broken her fingers. While i waited to be discharged as i didn't need to lie down i considered that maybe i should have been sedated, then another person came in and said how awful it was, he'd been sedated and gagged the whole time! Great! One of my polyps is big so expecting to have to have it removed by the way of Endoscopy again once i get the results. Now i'm scared to go through it again, my throat was so bad last night i was still gagging every now and then.
