  • Hello and thanks for your post,

The Leibovich score is used to predict a patient's risk of developing metastatic (cancer that has spread) after having removal of a whole kidney. The score can help your doctors decide whether you need further treatment. The scoring system is from 1-6. You can read more about it on Kidney Cancer's website here

Immunotherapy drugs encourage the body's immune system to fight cancer cells. There are different types of immunotherapy drugs all working in slightly different ways. You can read more about this on our website here

A team of doctors including your surgeon, oncologist, pathologist and radiologist will have met together to discuss your case and work out what your next steps should be. There is some information on our website about how these decisions are reached here

I am sure that they will be meeting up with you to discuss their findings and what treatment they are planning to offer you.

I can understand that there is a lot to take on board, but you may find it helpful to read through the various links that I have given you so you have a better understanding before you meet up with your doctors.

If you would like to ring and chat through any of this with the nurses on our helpline then you are more then welcome to do so.

We are here Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040.

    All the Best,

    Catherine
