Hi,
My recent CT scan showed that I have a non-enhancing cystic lesion in my pelvis. I was wondering if anyone knew what is meant by non-enhancing?
Thank you.

Thanks for your post,
My understanding is that a non-enhanced lesion was seen in a scan where no contrast was used, using contrast enhances the picture. Contrast is injected into the patient just before the scan is done but not every scan needs to have contrast.
Your result should be discussed with you by the doctor that ordered the CT scan. The results of any scan or investigation can only be fully understood by the medical team involved in your care. So don't worry about not properly understanding everything on the scan result and hopefully you have an appointment coming up so that the results can be fully explained.
Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
