Don’t know what to do.

Hi, I posted previously about blood in my stool etc and doctor could feel a lump when she examined me. I was scheduled for a colonoscopy but ended up having a sigmoidoscopy instead where everything was fine. No heamorriods or anything.
I'm still having blood in my stools, although bright red. Sometimes I can feel a lump what could most definitely be a pile but I'm not 100% also going to the toilet is often such a struggle! I'm on there for ages (sorry tmi) but it just doesn't come out but I can feel it. And have tiny drops - this can sometime end up with a very red toilet bowl. Before all this I never had any issues with going to the toilet! Just wondering if it is heamorriods why aren't they going if that's what it is- it's been going on for so long! It always feels like I've still got to go to the toilet when I'm finished too.

sorry for the essay.

  • Hi, I had terrible piles post pregnancy and birth and the toileting afterwards was terrifying, equally constipation will be terrible on the piles, and you will excrete rabbit poo sized pellets much like what you are saying. I suggest you go and buy some prunes, eat lots of fruit and if you still are struggling then go get some fibogel which is a fibre drink. Until you loosen your stools and help the stress on your piles you will not know if the bloody is them or not. Honestly the blood was so bad sometimes it's horrific so try all of that first. Hope this helps and best of luck.x

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I’m afraid I do not know why you’re still noticing this blood in your stools. It sounds like everything was clear a few months ago, when you had the sigmoidoscopy so best to talk things through again with your GP.

I am not sure if constipation could be a factor in your symptoms, if so,  it may help to look into ways of sorting this out to see if it helps. Here is the NHS link about constipation if useful.

Take care, and I hope you know more about how you are feeling soon.

    Sarah.
