Mass on Ovary

I was checked 6 months ago and have 6cm mass growing on my ovary. Scans have shown slow growth after 3 months. I have a bloated stomach and also a lump next to my tummy button which I thought might be a hernia but it seems to have also grown. I have a lots of pain which prevents me wearing jeans or anything on my tummy. The last few weeks I have blood on my urine and water infections. Because my ca125 was under 30 the doctor seems reassured but I just want to ask if anything else's can be checked to rule out cancer.

  • Hi SparklesStirk and thanks for posting,

It does sound like you have a lot going on at the moment, and you are worried about what might be causing your symptoms.

You said you have had a scan which was repeated three months later, and a CA125 blood test. There is more information on our website about other tests for ovarian cancer which you may like to look at.

If you haven't seen your GP, since you had new symptoms of blood in your urine and water infections, make an appointment with them. They can then assess you.

You can also mention your ongoing symptoms and what you are worried about.  Symptoms can be caused by many things and often turn out not to be cancer, but talking this through with your GP would be helpful.  They can decide whether to refer you need to be referred for further tests.  We have tips here about getting the most from your GP appointment.

I hope this information is useful and you get some answers soon.

Please get in touch if you need any more information or support.  You might like to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Rachel
