Result day tomorrow morning

Tomorrow morning I will find out my results,I have been stronger than ever and positive, however today I had a meltdown, anxiety was off the scale, I am scared of what the outcome may be, my appointment last Thursday was for a scan, however I had 2 mammograms a scan and 3 biopsies were taken, the words you have cancer were not said, but I had every reason to believe the worst, the nurse said that the specialist I will have is the best lady, I was then met with the after care nurse who gave me advice on how to tell my children ext! And that I would be operated on within 4 weeks! So I'm guessing I have cancer has anyone else experienced what I did? Many thanks Lindsay xx

  • I don't really know what to say other than I am thinking of you and as hard as it is, until you get the official confirmation/discussion with your Consultant, your mind will definitely wonder. I am waiitng for biopsy results too and I have been told I have to meet with my Consultant to discuss the results so I am thinking of the worst too. Hang on in there and use this forum as support x

  • Hi I just wanted to jump on and say this happened to me about a fortnight ago.  The doctor at the time prepared me for they thought it was cancer but I would need to wait til the biopsy results came back.  Thankfully for me that was only a week.  I met my specialist nurse when I found out I had cancer and that was only last Thursday.  I've got an MRI on Monday and my treatment plan on Thursday, 3 days before Christmas.  I am booked in for surgery on the 11th of January.  Keeping positive is the only thing that is getting me through just now.  Keeping busy has helped me.  Good luck and I'm always here is you need a vent or an ear.  Good Luck and I'll be thinking about you xx

  • Hi Lindz44 and thanks for posting.

It sounds like you are having a really worrying time at the moment.  It is normal to feel anxious at a time like this and lots of people feel completely overwhelmed.

As you posted early this morning you may well already be at your appointment.

You have had some replies from other group members who have similar experiences which hopefully you will have found helpful.  Once you have been to your appointment you may wish to post in other areas of the forum to speak to other people, or you can post again in ask the nurses.

If you need it, we do have information on our website about treatment for breast cancer and what to expect.  You may find this helpful if you have been told that you have cancer at your appointment.  We also have information about talking to children about cancer which you might like to read.

You may want to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline. Sometimes speaking to someone outside the situation can be helpful. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Rachel
