Ibc tracking

Hello

I have just had an appointment with my doctor and have been refered to breast cancer clinic by the doctor, however, she is also treating me for an infection as it looks like it's tracking. My question is does ibc track like an infection.as she couldn't answer that for me.

  • Hello  Tia and thanks for your post,

I don't think that tracking is one of the side effects of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) but of course I can't be sure. IBC is a rare form of breast cancer so try if you can not to jump to any conclusions until you have been seen in the breast clinic.

Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in and treat an infection if it is present.

At the breast clinic you will probably have nother breast examination, an ultrasound and possibly a mammogram and then they will be able to tell you more.

The majority of women who are referred to a breast clinic don't have cancer so try not to think the worst.

The charity Breast Cancer Now have produced some information about what to expect at a breast clinic which you can see here.

I hope you know more soon. If at any stage you would like to ring and speak to one of the helpline nurses then you are more then welcome to do so. We are here monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and our number is 0808 800 4040.

    All the Best

    Catherine
