Hamartoma

I was diagnosed with a breast hamartoma and I'm wondering if this is somthing I should be worried about. It came out of nowhere and was 21mm when it was found. 
i have been reading it can grow really big and can cause breast abnormalities and a very small chance of cancer

i thought because it was benign they would just say it's fine and discharge me except they want to give me another ultrasound after the new year and possibly more biopsies. Do you know why they may want to do this? 

Iv never even heard of this type of tumor is it rare? I'm only 32

    As you say breast harmatoma is a rare breast condition that is usually benign (meaning not cancer). Sometimes they can be the result of another medical condition that means people can get them in multiple locations, but when an isolated harmatoma occurs these are usually harmless and don't cause further problems.

    Without being involved in your care it is difficult to say for sure why the doctors want to do further tests. I can only assume they are wanting to be thorough to make sure nothing has been missed and that no treatment is needed for this, which can only be a good thing.

    Easier said than done but try not to worry. If they were concerned this was something sinister they would be investigating much sooner so try and relax for now.

    Do talk to the team when you see them in January and ask them any questions you have and share your concerns with them.

    I just had a phone call to asked me to come in next Wednesday for another ultrasound and more biopsies :( 

    I can't help but worry now, I did ask if they said why but she wasn't able to tell me.

    Hello Babyoleg and thanks for getting back to us, 

    It can be an unsettling time for anyone called in for more tests, but do try your best to keep an open mind.  As Naomi said, these additional tests are probably so they can be thorough and certain they have the full picture.

    The person you spoke to might have had a clerical or administrative job and therefore not been in a position to be able to explain anything. I think only the medical staff are going to be able to provide the context for why they want you back. 

    Try not to dwell on it too much and keep yourself distracted. 

    I hope they can reassure you at the appointment.

    I spoke with the nurse this evening

    the said they no longer think it's a harmatoma they now think I have PASH with cell changes. 

    let's see what Wednesday brings I guess.
